Round 1 of the OMA Series
Team Off Camber Racing/Pro Moto Billet/Fastway
The Off-Camber Racing Yamaha Pro-Moto Billet/Fastway Performance, Kim, Rekluse team headed in different directions this weekend. Randy Mastin and Mandi Mastin headed south to the OMA in Hanging Limb, Tennessee, while Mark Cline stayed in Pennsylvania and attended the AWRCS in Boyers.
The OMA was cold and muddy on Saturday; the team was unable to get any of the vehicles into the pits on Saturday and was forced to park in the emergency parking, where several vehicles were already stuck. The team encouraged several other northern, Yamaha backed riders to follow them south to the OMA. Paul and Matt Bucher, Dewayne and Cody Dusendang and Zach Klamfoth all made the trip to race in the Tennessee hills. Even Cody Mastin made the trip to crutch through the mud and worked the checkered flag for the OMA crew.
Surprisingly on Sunday the skies cleared and the sun came out for a beautiful 70-degree day. The track tacked up nicely and the only real mud holes were in the deep valleys. Randy raced the Super Senior A class and had a mid-pack start. Randy had to work hard for the first few laps, through bottlenecks and other racers to get the lead. Randy ended up winning his class and finishing a very respectable 42 th overall for the day. Randy said that the track was, “very tight and technical and one of the toughest races he has done in a long time. Mandi grabbed the holeshot from the start and never looked back. Mandi lead from start to finish, winning her class hands down and getting 48 th overall. Mandi agreed with her dad and stated that, “this was one of the most technical and toughest races she has done in a while.” Mandi further stated that it was fun to race with some of her fellow ISDE teammates Daniel Janus and local Tennessee favorite Steve Gordan for a few laps.
The Suzuki Team dominated the Pro class; Charlie Mullins took the easy win with Paul Whibley finishing second, Jimmy Jarrett third and Josh Strang finishing fourth for the day. Brian Garrahan rounded out the top 5 on his Valli Construction/Yamaha YZf450.
Mark Cline attended the AWRCS race and finished fourth in the Senior B class. Mark stated that the track, like the OMA was very tight and technical and made for a long tough race all day.
The whole team looks forward to their next race, the GNCC in Union South Carolina the weekend of April 12/13.
