Round 10 of the GNCC Series
Team Off Camber Racing/Pro Moto Billet/Fastway
Round 10 of the Grand National Cross Country Series took place this weekend in Snowshoe, West Virginia. This was the first weekend back from the summer break for this series. Snowshoe Mountain played host to the GNCC Series for the second year in a row. Just like last year, Snowshoe proved to be one of the most unique races on the circuit, tough demanding trail sections and great battles in all classes.
The Off Camber Racing/Pro Moto Billet/Fastway/Klim team headed to the mountain excited to introduce a new team member, XC2 Lites rider, Johnny Barber. Johnny started the first lap in 8 th place and then on lap two had a rear brake issue, but after that he put on a charge to the last lap. Johnny rode the Yamaha WR250 to a solid 6 th place finish in the Lites class. Good Job Johnny! Both Team Off Camber and Johnny are excited to finish out the year together and look forward to an exciting 2009 season!!
Team Off Camber Racing/Pro Moto Billet/Fastway/Klim rider Randy Mastin was excited to join the team again this weekend. Randy has missed the last 2 ½ months of racing due to some personal health issues that he needed to take care. As of this weekend, he is now back in action!! The former class champion had a good solid ride and was just happy to be back on the bike. “I knew coming into this race that my conditioning was not what it was at the beginning of the season. So I got really tired a couple of times throughout the race, but now I know where I stand and what I have to do get back to where I was.” Randy finished 3 rd place for the day in the Masters A Class.
Mandi Mastin, Off Camber Racing Women’s rider, had a decent weekend. Mandi incurred some mechanical issues with her front brakes, but continued on to salvage some points. She finished the day with a 3 rd place finish, which now gives her the overall lead for the series with 3 rounds left.
This upcoming weekend will be Round 8 of the OMA Series which will be held in Ozark, Arkansas. We will not be at this round, but for those of you that have not been to an OMA yet…..you’re missing out!!
